The principal olive-growing areas are the European countries of Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Greece (1.5 million tons). With each 200,000 tons the African continent and Asia Minor, consisting of the countries of Syria and Turkey. Last but not least, with 12,000 tons of North, Central and South America. Globally about two million tonnes of olive oil are extracted. |
